Dr. Annabelle Schwartzman is back again, as she teams up with Detective Hal Harris to help solve the murder of a young woman found naked at a local park. As they arrive to survey the scene, Anna realizes that she saw this woman in passing the night before while retrieving the victim of an accident. Haunted by the chance encounter and worrying about the child that the woman had in the car with her last night, Anna & Hal pour themselves into this case – where the discover ties to a vicious assault 14 years ago.

Meanwhile, Anna’s abusive ex-husband is out of jail and Anna fears that it’s only a matter of time before he comes for her. Her apprehension is only appeased by the daily text messages she receives from a private investigator who keeps tabs on Spencer’s whereabouts. So far, he has remained far away, but Anna fears the worst.

As the investigation continues, more deaths occur, all seemingly related to a young Muslim woman, and her former roommate at Berkeley University. As Anna & Hal attempt to solve the puzzle, they find themselves increasingly attracted to one another, and have a chance to explore that attraction during the holidays.

Finally, a simple signet ring helps put the pieces together, but danger is even more close to home than ever before…this book will leave you breathless with a desire to climb into the pages and warn the characters of danger, and leaves you on tenterhooks with a stunning cliff-hanger ending… Now I must wait, very impatiently, for the next book in the series!! Fabulous read!! Love these characters!!

Caged – Ellison Cooper

Oh my goodness, this book is phenomenal!!

On a warm spring night, two patrol officers are sent to an empty home to investigate a bad smell. What they find is a young girl, deceased, imprisoned in a cage with a puppy, but not before a rigged shotgun, set as a booby trap, seriously injures them both.

FBI Special Agent Sayre Altair is a neuroscientist. She is presently conducting research on convicted serial killers. Her goal is to find whether or not serial killers have differences in brain structure from those of ‘normal’ people, via MRI scanning. She is tapped to be the lead investigator on the ‘cage’ case, and is joined by the pompous, but highly regarded profiler, Andy Wagner.

All too soon, it becomes apparent that there is another victim somewhere, caged, that needs to be found. But nothing is as it seems, and promising leads turn out to be red herrings. As Sayre and her crew race against time to solve the case, they match wits with an incredibly cunning killer, who will stop at nothing to deceive investigators and achieve a goal. And then a third girl goes missing…

Absolutely freakin’ fantastic!! A definite MUST read!! Best book I have read this year!!

Double Blind – Iris Johansen & Roy Johansen

Kendra Michaels is a music therapist with a special gift for sensing things that others cannot. Born blind, she honed her other senses as a child, before a miraculous stem cell treatment restored her sight. As a result, her special abilities are frequently called upon by the FBI.

Adam Lynch is a former FBI operative, who now freelances wherever needed. He and Kendra have a mutual respect – and something more – that Kendra declines to examine too closely. Kendra calls upon him frequently to hone her self defense skills. They are working on such, as the novel opens.

Meanwhile, a young woman with a gunshot wound is fleeing her killer, desperate to get an envelope to Kendra. She bursts out of an alley, and into a city street where she is struck by a vehicle and killed. The police find the envelope addressed to Kendra, but Kendra is mystified. She did not know the woman, and the enclosed flash drive holds only the video of a wedding reception, for a couple that Kendra has never met. Intrigued by the situation, both Kendra and Adam begin to investigate.

Then the bride of the video is seemingly kidnapped from her home, and a quest for answers leads to a near death experience for both Kendra and Adam. As they race to find answers, they find themselves pitted against a powerful
organization that seemingly will stop at nothing to keep some secrets buried…

This book takes off like a runaway train and doesn’t stop until you turn the last page! Strong heroic characters, relentless action, and enough sexual tension to keep you coming back for more! I can’t wait for the next installment of the Kendra Michaels’ series!! A great read!!

Good Little Girls – Rita Herron
